Italy's Best Quality of Life 2012

Thinking of moving to the peninsula? At this point you have something to bear in mind. In effect,  according to a recent survey carried out by the national business daily, Il Sole 24 Ore, if on a global scale Vienna has been named the most liveable city in the world, in Italy Bologna wears that crown.

This is the 22nd edition of the yearly research dedicated to the quality of life in the 107 Italian provinces. They are compared on the basis of an account which takes into consideration 36 factors in 10 revealing categories spanning standard of living, business and work, health and hospital services/state of the local environment/public services, population, law and order, and availability of free time.

Three B in pole position, namely Bologna, Bolzano and Belluno. But other major cities have reached an high result this year, that is the case of Milan and Rome in 19th and 23rd place respectively.

Bologna is a well-known centre of art and culture, indeed it is home to the oldest university worldwide. And it conquers the top of the chart for some interesting issues, first of all its commitment to childcare and education. When Bologna's Mayor, Virginio Merola, received the news he commented: "I believe that this region and urban network has all the conditions for overcoming this crisis". Emilia-Romagna continues to dominate the poll. As a matter of fact, in this ranking other towns stand out. Ravenna where occupational problems are lower than the rest of the country, and  Rimini 'queen' of the leisure time.

The survey, which has been conducted in the current economic crisis that hit world's economies, has seen the northen cities prevail against the south of Italy which takes its revenge with two Sardinian provinces that are Olbia Tempio and Oristano.

Every year Italy welcomes thousands of tourists thanks to many factors such as art, traditions and natural beauties which makes it an attractive place to live. Most people fall in love with this country and dream about making a life for themeselves in the Bel Paese. In fact it is both a perfect place to spend your holidays and a good investment as well. Despite the index, at this time the most popular locations among foreign buyers seem to be Lake Como, Tuscany, Umbria and Salento. But buying your ideal property is potentially a life changing experience, that is why many people shop around for the best deal. So even if this poll do not paint the picture and just gives an outline, it could provide you with some interesting points to be considered.
