![]() Gate-away: Homes for Sale in Italy – Confirmed Decrease in Negotiations in First Quarter 09A late study from the Land Registry has confirmed the negative trend predicted in the past months. The number of negotiation for homes for sale in Italy has decreased by 18.7% in the first quarter 2009 compared to the first quarter 2008. The study, released by the intelligence agency, highlights that in first quarter 09 the number of transactions for homes for sale in Italy was 299,419 with 18.7% decrease compared to the same period last year. Is confirmed the trend started on the second half of 2006, after a long period of steady growth. If we look at the report more into detail we notice that the decrease of transactions for Italian homes for sale is not even throughout Italy: The strongest decrease is registered for homes for sale in northern Italy (- 20,6%), slightly better off are properties in central Italy (- 19,6%) and properties in southern Italy (- 16,0%). Furthermore, it is confirmed, as already highlighted in the previous study released by the same property intelligence agency, that the negative trend of the number of transactions of homes for sale in Italy is stronger in non regional capital cities (- 19,8%), whereas in regional capital cities the property transaction decrease is less strong (- 15,8%) This report simply confirms what many experts had said previously and we are waiting for confirmation of what experts are already saying now, that this is a good time to invest in homes for sale in Italy as the Italian property market will recover very soon as already signs of recovery have been seen.
