Many people, whether for their retirement or for spending enjoyable holidays, decide to move to Italy. It\u2019s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, experience the culture and enjoy a different lifestyle. Lots of expats decide to retire<\/a> <\/strong>to some of the most famous Italian towns, cities and regions like Tuscany, Puglia or the Western Riviera. They are beautiful places to live in. However if you\u2019re thinking of relocating to Italy<\/strong>, why not check out some of the lesser known yet equally wonderful and interesting destinations? There are other areas that have so much to offer and are not spoilt by mass tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Friuli-Venezia Giulia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"Trieste\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Friuli-Venezia Giulia<\/a><\/strong> is one of the least visited regions of Italy especially by foreign tourists, which is a shame because it it a real undiscovered jewel. Due to its strategic position bordering Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east, it boasts a cosmopolitan spirit which is evident in its main city, which is Trieste, and its caf\u00e9s. But Friuli-Venezia Giulia is also renowned for its excellent wines, perfect for connoisseurs. Did you know that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you enjoy skiing then there are the idyllic Dolomites and Alps which are usually overlooked in favour of other most famous destinations. Alternatively chill out on Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado\u2019s fabulous sandy beaches if you are a sea lover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Emilia-Romagna<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located in the centre of Italy, you can expect a warm welcome from the friendly locals, not to mention its fine Italian cuisine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emilia-Romagna<\/a><\/strong> is a great place to live as it boasts one of the best quality of life in the entire ‘boot-shaped’ country, but also to invest in a property. For instance you could rent out your house to students if you buy a home in the historic university town of Bologne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Molise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Italian charm, you can\u2019t beat the region of Molise<\/a><\/strong>. Have you ever heard about that? As a matter of fact it now has very affordable house prices along with a very affordable cost of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Calabria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the south west of Italy you will find the gorgeous region of Calabria<\/a>.<\/strong> Do a little exploring before you decide to buy a property here to experience the rugged mountains, dramatic coastline and whitewashed villages. Calabria has amazing and unspoilt beaches facing the crystal blue sea that makes it an attractive place to live. As in the case of Molise, there are lots of property bargains here too not to mention its low-cost living standards if compared to the northern areas of Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
