The building was built around 1678 by architect Giovanni Antonio De Rossi (Rome n.1616/m.1695) on behalf of the Gomez family.

He made Palazzo D'Aste, then Bonaparte al Corso (1658/1665), Palazzo Altieri al Gesù (1650/1660) and Palazzo Naro in Campo Marzio (1678).
From the portal starts a long, deep atrium covered by a barrel vault that leads into the inner courtyard.
From the hallway, through an inviting shelf, there is access to the two-flight staircase with a central plug wall; the order employed is pseudo Doric, which De Rossi used with extreme finesse, insisting on solutions of detail.
Inside is a courtyard with a 19th-century portico in neo-Renaissance forms; many excavation finds, including a sarcophagus, are found here.
At the end of the 1700s the palace passed to the Lepri family, wealthy Milanese merchants, and after also being owned by Gallo di Roccagiovine, it was purchased by the Marquises Silj in the late 1800s.
