The convent was very importantfrom the 1400' s onwards and is tied to the miracle of St. Francis (1229) in which he freed a child who had been abducted by a wolf.The church and the cloister, built from 1608 and 1634 in place of previous church, housed 25 monks and an impressive library with 1572 volumes.
In 1974 the convent was given up by monks and restored conserving the original architectural structure and 25 apartments were converted from the monks' ancient cells. The convent area (3 hectars) is still surrounded by the ancient stone walls and includes a beautiful church and a cloister with beautiful frescos, an enchanting wood of evergreen oaks, a 25x12,5 meter pool, a tennis court, a beautiful garden with olive trees, a chapel in the wood, a common room with wi-fi internet access.
