One of the oldest structures in the village, having been built around 1320, it is believed that it was originally the 'white wine cantina' of the village consisting of a large store room with the wine vat at the rear. The building was renovated completely in the mid '90s.

A second door from the landing leads to another suite. A staircase from the dressing room leads to another mezzanine or ‘sopalco’ which is the second bedroom. There is a bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and bidet, connected to the dressing room. (This 'self contained suite' comprising sopalco, dressing room and bathroom is currently being used as the ovwner's studio.)

Being within the town, the building is protected from the winter wind and shaded from direct sunshine. Its location coupled with substantial stone walls lined with ‘intercapedine’ insulation make the 'cantina' warm in winter and cool in summer.

Paciano is beautiful little village which is a member of 'Borghi piu belli d'Italia' – an association established in 2001 to preserve and maintain villages of 'historical heritage'. The cantina is within walking distance of several restaurants, two bars, a mini market, a butchers and the pharmacy. There is also a Post Office and an ATM. In the centre of Paciano is the Palazzo Baldeschi – a beautifully restored Medieval palace – which is now a centre for many cultural events throughout the year. These include the Olive Harvest Festival and 'Mille e una Umbria' – a fantastic day when the village hosts an 'itinerant lunch' where you can collect each course from a different location in the centre of the village and the streets are filled with tables and benches to eat at. There are also lots of musical and cultural activities happening throughout the day.

Paciano is also well-placed to visit other parts of Italy. It is close to the autostrada which runs North to Florence and South to Orvieto and Rome and the superstrada which runs West to Siena and East to Perugia and Assisi.
It is also 5 minutes drive from Chiusi Scalo where you can catch a train to Orvieto, Rome and the South or to Florence, Bologna and the North
