This eighteenth century residence built from the soft, yellowlocal stone is in the centre of a small village, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Monferrato. It has been carefully and lovingly restored to its original splendor, as recently featured in an Interiors magazine.
Access by an external staircase leads to a large, panoramic, cobbledcourtyard-terrace and the main door at the front of the house, which opens onto a traditional stone staircase, carefully decorated, as are all the rooms, in pastel-tinted limestone, which compliment the terracotta floors and vaulted ceilings, some still with their original paintings. The light, airy and individually coloured rooms each offer an interesting and unique space.
Ground floor: kitchen, dining-room and three living-rooms (one with chimney, one installed as a library), bathroom.
First floor: main bedroom with rafters, en suite bathroom and dressing-room; studio with working chimney, second bedroom, bathroom.
Second floor: third and fourth bedrooms, bathroom.
Roof: the stairs lead to a small balconied lookout, with a 360° view of the surrounding countryside.
Wine cellar or “infernot” a traditional cellar carved entirely out of the tufa rock and protected by UNESCO.
Street level: (below the terrace) two large garages, with the possibility of a third, and store rooms.
At the back of the house an outside dining area under the eves of what was once the farm entrance leads into the kitchen and gives onto the garden.
The plumbing and electricity installations are recent and meet current norms, central heating is gas.
The property can be sold partly furnished.
An independant two-story out -building is situated between the stair entrance and the courtyard, offering a showroom at street level and access from the terrace.
