Lying above a hill, with a wonderful 360° view over the Adriatic Sea and the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains, we sell a former monastery of the 18th century then converted in a cottage of about 13000 sq.m. of surrounding land. The property is at 4 km from the historic center of Atri, considered one of the most beautiful art city of Abruzzo and precisely in contrada Cona, little hamlet which story starts in the medieval era, with the hospice of S. Giorgio, the hermit Domenico Carosino and various convents spread out over the hills. According to historic news, this property too was destined as a monastery and subsequently as a residence of farmers. The old monastery, now to be renovated completely, still maintains the rose window, the guard tower and in a room there are still traces of paintings on the ceiling. Surrounded by a wild vegetation, you can dive in the past, when there were cultivated farmlands around and friars in search of charity, the place is really magical. with a width of about 300 sq.m. it is possible to renovate with all the modern comforts (even perhaps a pool) leaving the medioeval print.
the splendid position allows to reach the sea in a few minutes and the mountains in less then half an hour, with 5 minutes you can reach the historic center of Atri, old pre-Roman city and the first Italic city to mint coins. Rich of history, monuments, agricultural products of excellence like "pecorino", honey, "Montepulciano d'Abruzzo" and famous around the world for the production of liquirice and "pan ducale".
Numerous museums, really old churches and a theatre of the 19th century frame the "queen of the hills", from the near villages, everyone can hear the chimes of Atri's bells.
