Villa Luisa Maria is located in Francavilla di Sicilia, and in particular in the center of the Alcantara Valley. It was originally the residence of Luigi Maria Majorca Mortillaro, Count of Francavilla. The villa is located in oldtown. Given its location, the villa is located in a very peaceful setting and has a splendid view of the Alcantara Valley, Mount Etna and the Peloritani Mountains. The Villa was designed, on behalf of Luigi Maria Majorca Mortillaro, and by the architect Ernesto Basile, one of the most important Italian exponents of the Liberty Style, better known in Europe as Art Nouveau. The Villa complex consists of three buildings: the main house, the caretaker's house and the guest house, a courtyard and a large garden. The main house is divided into three levels: ground floor, first floor and attic floor and it overlooks the internal courtyard and the garden. The caretaker's house, on two levels, overlooks the internal courtyard while the guest house, also on two levels, is located inside the garden. The garden has a total area of approximately three thousand five hundred square meters, while the internal courtyard of the entrance has an area of approximately five hundred square meters. There are two large terraces both with splendid views, a medium-sized terrace on the west side of the house and a small panoramic terrace on the roof of the main house. The villa has been declared "of particularly important naturalistic, historical, artistic and architectural interest" with Decree no. 6179 dated 11/06/1993 of the regional councilor for cultural and environmental heritage and public education. It is located 15 km away from the sea of Giardini Naxos, 20 km from Taormina and a few kilometers from some of the most important wineries in the "Etna" DOC area, currently one of the most interesting areas in the world, from the point of enological and more generally, enogastronomic view. It can be easily reached from Catania in 35/40 minutes by car via the Messina-Catania motorway (35 km), exiting at Giardini Naxos, and traveling another 15 km of state road, very smooth and fast and with a beautiful view. In addition, in about 50 minutes by car you can comfortably reach the Catania - Fontanarossa Airport (again via the motorway).
