This villa is one of the highest examples of the Lucca architecture
of country villas that among the few are characterized by the choice of
new solutions and shapes compared to the traditional and repeated floor plans
sixteenth-century origin as can be seen from the definition of the facades and in the
the presence of the loggia that concludes the main façade, (in the central area of
the façade, higher than the rest). This part of the building, which sometimes is
also called "belvedere" is concluded by intermediate columns, which follow a
relatively widespread architectural solution in the seventeenth century and
that will continue in the following century as in the case in question, when
the Abbot Pier Francesco Benassai, had the central upper part of the façade
raised with the aforementioned loggia e, removed the pre-existing
external staircase, had then the entrance portal, the burnished wall of the
ground floor still present today and the regular plot of the landline
frames and dividers built. between the three parts.
The existing back portico has therefore been closed and embellished the ceiling and the walls
of the large living room on the first floor with frames and views of landscapes.
The huge size of this large room embodies the entire depth of the house:
thanks to the three large windows on the north and south opposite sides, this
"attraversa" room the main facades of the villa, allowing you to enjoy splendid
views of the surrounding gardens.

The building consists of three levels internally connected by stairs. THE
ground floor comprising nine rooms, plus two toilets and a storeroom; THE
first floor living room, four rooms and three toilets; the second floor,
on two staggered levels (the central part above the hall is higher),
it consists of eight rooms plus storerooms, a toilet and a closed porch on three sides.
