PROPERTIES IN LE MARCHE

Homes for sale in Le Marche and Le Marche Property market

It is not a secret that Le Marche is becoming one of the most popular region in Italy for property buyers. Its variety of landscapes, the presence of the sea, rounded hills, mountains with ski resorts, stunning countryside and, last but not least, a lot of medieval towns and historic cities, offers the visitor (and, of course, the home buyer) great opportunities.

The ever increasing demand for properties to restore in the countryside and the ever decreasing availability of these type of properties remind a lot of what happened in Tuscany, with prices gone up to the sky and the region becoming one of the most exclusive areas in the world.

This region has not reached that point yet but you can be sure that buying a property in Le Marche can only be a great investment. There are still a lot of opportunities to be found, especially more inland where with as little as €80,000 is still possible to find typical stone houses for sale in Le Marche.

If you are willing to undertake a restoration work, we have on our site good examples of country homes to be restored with an habitable surface between 150 and 300 square meters, at about 10/20 km from the sea, that could be a great opportunity to convert it in a Bed&Breackfast or simply in the house of your dreams.

The area of Fermo is a perfect example of what said above. Big availability of  both restored and to be restored country homes set in a wonderful country side. Buying a property in Fermo can be a  great investment as this city is a new province in Le Marche and more and more facilities will be placed there, and also because the city of Fermo itself is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in all Le Marche.

But of course Le Marche have a lot of very well known sea resorts, with a lovely sea and long sandy beaches, ideal for family tourism. Buying homes in Le Marche by the coast, for instence in San Benedetto del Tronto, can be a great investment opportunity for property buyers, with the growing number of foreign tourists, the demand for flats and houses to let for holiday has increased dramatically. Also the season has got longer, with northern European tourists willing to come in quieter periods, the rental season starts in April/May and ends in October/November, making buy-to-let properties in Le Marche more and more tempting for property buyers, in fact properties in places auch as San Benedetto del Tronto and Fano have seen a an increase in prices of 40%, and a little bit less for Senigallia, ”just” 32%, in the last 5 years.

About Le Marche

This region is often defined as “Italy in one region”, we’ll try to explain why.
Thanks to its central position, Le Marche can offer you many different landscapes and sceneries. You can move by car from the beach to the mountains in less than an hour, passing through a wonderful countryside rich of nature and tradition. This could be one of the reasons why you should choose to buy a property in Marche, because “you can see the mountains laying down the beach and admire the sea while you are climbing”!

There are 2 main manufacturing industries in the Region: the Northern part (Pesaro, Fano) is specialized in furniture production, while in the south you can find many shoes factories, famous all over the world for quality and fashion, brands such as Tod’s and Hogan by Diego Della Valle.

In Fabriano there’s a peculiar type of industry: the creation of the “fisarmonica” (accordion), an instrument that was first created in this region and now exported all over the world.

If you move to Le Marche, you’ll find a population famous to be good host, and you’ll have the chance to live in a region that can offer you many opportunities.

Culture and society

If you decide to buy a property in Italy, and you are looking for a place where you can easily get culture, art, tradition, nature, good food and entertainment, you are in the right place. Buying a home in Le Marche can be a wise choice.

If you are interested in art and culture, in the city of Urbino you can visit the house of Raphael, one of the most important artists of the Renaissance, and the famous National Gallery of the region.

Moving to the south, you can stop in Recanati where the famous poet Leopardi was born and visit his house, taking a rest on the hill where he wrote his biggest poem “The Infinite”.  In few minutes from Recanati you can reach the “Sanctuary of Loreto” and visit the Basilica.

But if you just want to spend the day immersed in nature, you can choose one of the many naturalistic oasis of the Region, such as the Monti Sibillini National Park, Gola Rossa National Park, Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, Monte Conero Park. And if you want to get closer to the centre of the earth, you can visit the “Grotte di Frasassi” (Frasassi Cave) in Genga near Ancona, where you’ll understand better the planet we live in.

After all these beauties, you can have some rest on one of the many Spas you can find in Le Marche. You just need to choose where you want to go: Acquasanta Terme, Aspio, Corignano, Macerata Feltria, Montegrimano, Sarnano and Tolentino.

Now you’re ready to leave again! Don’t miss the castles of the region! The most famous is in Gradara, where the legendary love story between Paolo and Francesca began, so well told by Dante in the 6th canto of “The Inferno”(the hell).

Some other very beautiful castles in Le Marche are in Tolentino, Mondavio, Pesaro, Urbisaglia, Sassocorvaro and Moresco.

Food and wine are of particular pride for the population of Le Marche region. Thanks to its variety of landscapes, you can taste both fresh fish and mountainous mushrooms, cheese and meat. One of the main food-attraction is “olive all’ascolana” (olives from the city of Ascoli filled with meat), a very famous recipe from the south of the region. But you can also taste the “pecorino” cheese (sheep cheese), the “lenticchie” of Colfiorito (a variety of lentils) and many other specialties. These are only the main ones, but every village, town, city or area in Le Marche has its own secrets.

According to tradition, there are many events you can participate to. One the most known is the “Quintana” in the city of Ascoli Piceno, where, every first Sunday of August,  you can see an amazing medieval parade and a game between six valorous knights.

But if all you want is getting a tan and have fun at night until the break of dawn, you just have to choose one the coast towns (such as San Benedetto del Tronto, Ancona and the Conero hill, Fano or Pesaro) and let yourself go. Don’t miss the “Summer Jamboree Festival” in Senigallia! You’ll go back on time in the 60s and you’ll find yourself with grease on your hair, wide skirts, tight trousers dancing rock ‘n’ roll music all over the streets! Usually it takes place at the end of August  every year.

Good food is the peculiarity of Le Marche, and wherever you go you will find Agriturismi (farmhouses) and Bed&Breakfast to taste the traditional cuisine and fine restaurants.

As you can see, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t choose to buy a property in Le Marche.

Facilities

Thanks to its central position, there are many ways to reach Le Marche.
The airport is near Ancona, it’s the “Raffaello Sanzio Airport” in Falconara. The motorway goes through the entire region and there are many freeways that allows you to move from the coast to the mountain very quickly.

From the seaport in Ancona, you can easily go to Croazia and Greece by ferry boat.

There are 4 different universities in the region in Urbino, Macerata, Camerino and the new Polytechnic University of Marche, dislocated in three different cities in the southern part (Fermo, Civitanova Marche and San Benedetto del Tronto).
