Description

MONTEGRETO ... and to describe this beautiful farmhouse what is better than using the story that the owner has made it to me?
Enjoy your reading!
"To talk about the Borgo di Strettara we have to start from a Charter of 1584 where for the first time there is a road that is named after Cutigliano (Gr. Duchy of Tuscany) transiting through Fiumalbo, Pievepelago, Riolunato and Strettara it allowed you to reach the lands of the Montecuccoli in the Frignano. The path passed into the middle of our hamlet and can still be reached on foot, by cycle and horse riding.
The oldest building of the village dates back to the end of the 700s and stood on this ancient driveway that from the Scoltenna creek (550 m. m asl) then, allowed the passage to men, animals (beasts, mules, flocks etc.) and wagons from the Municipalities of the Modena and Tuscan Apennines and directing into the Frignano.
Climbing from the Ponte dei Leoni, rebuilt in stone in the early 700s on existing wooden bridges, the first hamlet to be found was Casa Mucci, just over the house of Digano, then Magnani house, Garrada and Bagatti house up to the Vald tree; from there, transiting through Vaglio, you could reach, as now, Lama Mocogno and the Modenese.
In our village, the imposing manor house, built in the first half of the 1800s, dominates by a beautiful hill, rich in ultra-century oaks on the sunniest side, the valley below with the Hydro Central, the Scoltenna and all above by the Parish of Montecreto (800m above sea level). ).
The village consists of a more ancient stone building, built on several levels (end of 700) on a rocky outbuilding, completed and extended in the mid-800s (1854) as reported on the doorspace on the lower floor.
At the end of the first half of the 1800s, the owner, notarial in Lama M., was the beautiful manor house that, with the village, is located at the central point of the fund consisting of 35 hectares, 13/14 of which are cultivated and 22 consist of ceded forest.
Detail that does not escape visitors to the village is the presence of a four-light stone bell tower, behind the manor house, already used for the end of the 800s and in the early decades of the 900s to point out to the inhabitants of the two slopes of the Scoltenna the celebrations took place in a small church dedicated to the Madonna del Ponte about 450 meters from the village built around 1713 (don Apollonio Zanelli) and today there is no more.
The most recent building (1950) is the large barn (for that time) in front of which a large open space of the driveway allowed in the 900s the vans of the Caseificio di Montecreto to come and withdraw the milk morning and evening.
In the 60s, the road that from Lama Mocogno reaches the lion bridge was finally traced and paved and completed; now this artery allows, remaining at low altitudes, to reduce the mileage and transit times between the medium -high Modena Apennines (Montecreto, Sestola, Fanano, Rioluto, Pievepelago and Fiumalbo) and the Tuscan one (Cutigliano, S. Marcello Pistoiese etc.).
The construction of the Galleria di Strettara (1,20 m.) that part 200 meters above the bridge and the new Strettara-Montecreto connection via ring road (2 km) today make connections to Tuscany, with Modena and Bologna extremely fast bringing great interest for areas all to be discovered. "
