The mill has retained all of its authenticity and the machinery for making olive oil intact. The house is some 300 years old, full of authentic charm with dark beams and arched ceilings. The mill continued making olive oil throughout its history until the 1960's, by the 1990's it was abandoned and now needs complete restructuring. The village of Pigna has all commodities, restaurants, bars, pharmacy and and grocery stores, buses run to the coast, some 25 minutes distant, it is a high mountain location, renowned for its exceptional mountain trails on the old salt road and on the Via Alta leading from France to Genova through the Maritime Alps of Liguria. An area of great natural beauty within the National Park of the Maritime Alps, it is famous for hiking and mountain biking. There is also fabulous swimming on the river in the deep natural granite pools. The Airport of Nice is at a distance of circa one hour and a half. The French border 45 minutes. The fabulous beaches of Bordighera with the blue (super clean) European flag are a half an hour's drive.
