Description
There are two fascinating stories that follow one another in the events of Villa Olga in San Pietro in Vicoli, an elegant three-storey residence, in neoclassical style, with a rare closed courtyard conformation, built in the eighteenth century by the noble Donati family from Ravenna.
The first story concerns the great composer Gioacchino Rossini.
Born in Pesaro in 1792, little Gioacchino was a child prodigy who followed his parents, both artists, in their constant work transfers. At just eight years old, in Bologna, he began his studies and his first music lessons on the spinet. At ten years old, a new move led the Rossinis to Lugo, where Gioachino took bass lessons and became acquainted with the works of Mozart and Haydn. In the summer of 1804, Agostino Triossi, a friend of the Rossini family, hosted the child here who, at just twelve years old, composed "Six sonatas a quattro" and played them for the first time together with the young Triossi, a self-taught double bass player, and two of his cousins, violin and cello players respectively.
After a few years, Rossini wrote a fierce self-criticism of these first notes of his and how they were performed, but today, appreciating his self-irony, we make other evaluations. These very first compositional experiences of his, although immature and with a certain expressive shyness, are an authentic revelation of the "Rossinian genius": the formal perfection, the treatment of the themes, the internal development, are already those of the great Rossini.
In the summer of 2007, as part of the Emilia Romagna Festival, the famous string quintet of the "Berliner Philarmoniker" performed the six sonatas, on site, composed and played by Rossini, for the first time, right at Villa Olga .
The second story, however, is absolutely sporting and is linked to the equestrian world.
It is a story full of passion and great victories and sees, as the protagonist, Tino Triossi, born in Bologna in 1896. This villa, where his father had started a horse breeding farm, was his first gym. At the age of fifteen he achieved his first racing victory and only three years later he competed in professional races at the Zappoli racecourse in Bologna. Having returned, wounded and decorated, from the First World War, the resumption of his favorite sport saw him in the front row in the triple role of owner, breeder and driver. Promoter of the construction of a new racecourse in Bologna, to replace the demolished Zappoli, he was immediately at the helm of Arcoveggio, revealing himself to be an excellent organizer and promoter.
In addition to this racecourse, he successfully managed those in Prato, Ponte di Brenta, Valdinievole, Rome and, above all, Montecatini. He had the innate qualities of a leader: competence, intuition and courage. He knew the environment, the problems, the men and the horses. His last major victory was in the 1955 "Lottery Grand Prix".
Tino died in Padua the following year, but the Roman Capannelle racecourse, on 29 June, every year, organizes the "Tino Triossi Grand Prix" to honor, still today, the undisputed father of Italian horse racing.
Many memories and many photos are still present in the villa. Some ancillary buildings need to be restored, awaiting a new life, and here a third story comes into play: the one that you can write, with your family, with your creativity and with your entrepreneurial spirit.
If you are attracted by the idea of purchasing this important real estate complex to experience, as protagonists, a new great narrative, we suggest that, currently, it lends itself to being: period residence, manor house, home for several units of a large family or more friendly families, location for events, summer concerts and weddings, luxury hotel with restaurant, B&B, charming relais, farmhouse with possible agricultural and wine production with cellar (given the possibility of purchasing - in addition - a maximum of 13 hectares of very fertile agricultural land bordering the property), Healthcare Residence (in italian called R.S.A.), retirement home, educational centre, training school, etc...
The strategic position should not be underestimated:
14 km from Ravenna,
13 km from Forlì,
20 km from Cervia,
22 km from Milano Marittima,
12 km from Mirabilandia,
75 km from Bologna,
At the end:
On the ground floor, inside the private chapel (deconsecrated), there are two interesting large-scale seventeenth-century paintings: a praying saint and an altarpiece with the Madonna and Child, surrounded by angels, from Saint Anthony of Padua and by Saint Bartolomeo, to whom this small oratory is dedicated.
