Main Features

Description

Picinisco, within the charming residential complex "Borgo Castellone", we offer a lovely furnished apartment, of about 60 square meters, on two levels. The ground floor consists of a living room with open kitchen, with fireplace and a lovely terrace overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Melfa creek. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor, intended for the sleeping area and consists of the master bedroom, a small bedroom and the bathroom. Cared for in the smallest detail the park where the village is nestled. Fascinating its history ...
The Bartolomucci managed an important papercase in the territory of the municipality of Picinisco, in a town today called Borgo Castellone.
The first historical information on this system tells us how its foundation was built in ca. 1630, on a specific project wanted by the duke of Alvito, Francesco Gallio; but it is necessary to wait for the beginning of the nineteenth century to have other indications, which testify its extension on the wave of the entrepreneurial success of the contemporary Fibertier House in Isola Liri.
The factory under examination must have immediately begun to pay good fruit, as in the first quarter of the nineteenth century the owners brother Bartolomucci begin complex and expensive extension work on the construction of a new building. The plant had machines of the last generation with which more than twenty different types of paper were produced, for whose sale a warehouse had been purchased (underground) in the center of Naples. There were also houses for the 64 workers (32 women and 32 men) who were trained by French staff, who also stayed in the papercase, and also for the director of the Lorenzo Montgolfier plant, the family of the inventor of the airport. In 1828 due to the distance from the consular road which required expensive transport of materials at the back of mulo, the Bartolomucci ask for the construction of a road from Picinisco to Atina; this improvement work has its highest point when the Bartolomucci papercase becomes the supplier of the Ministry of the Interior and is considered the best papercase of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. This state of affairs in which the production is carried out in a more than satisfactory way until around 1870, when a half of the Bartolomucci property is purchased by the Visocchi, the owners of the Atina stationery; this new double property appears to give further fuel to the papercase, which occupies 90 workers between 1876 and 1890 and cannot meet all the market needs.
Over the years between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, a radical renovation of the technologies to which not all the businesses are located were started to adopt new raw materials for Italy such as wooden pulp and cellulose. Perhaps also for these reasons the Bartolomucci Cartier in 1896 began a slow but inexorable decline. In 1906 the Bartolomucci leave the property giving up to the Visocchi the other half of the plant.
The history of our papercase reaches our days when, in 1984, it is detected by private individuals, and its rooms, including the mill of relevance, are converted into apartments.
