PADENGHE ON GARDA

It is located on the shore of lower Lake Garda in the province of Brescia. The town is perched on a hill in a beautiful panoramic area and is part of the Valtenesi, a morphological unit that begins in Portese, near Salò and ends in Desenzano del Garda.
Archaeological finds testify that the occupation of Padenghe dates back to the Neolithic. In Roman times the town was an important barter port. The noble families of the court of the emperor of Milan commissioned luxurious villas and temples. For defense reasons from barbarian invasions the settlement was moved from the lake shore to the hill, where the tower was then built.
The city has a small port and a beautiful, long beach with welcoming bars and renowned restaurants.
The climate is mild and the vegetation is Mediterranean, typical of the territories south of Lake Garda. As in many other cities and towns around Lake Garda, here too the surrounding areas are surrounded by meadows with vineyards, olive groves and cypresses. Buildings of interest are Villa Barbieri, now the town hall, and the medieval castle, which with its historic crenellated walls surrounds the houses of the town. The main tower rises above the walls, from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lake and the surrounding hilly area of Valtenesi.
