The complex was born as a sulphur mine in San Lorenzo in Solfinelli, part of the Urbino mining area which includes the mines of Cavallino and Schieti
The first traces of the mining activity date back to the 11th century, but the period of greater productivity was between the mid-800s and the early 20th century.
The activity was suspended in 1932, with final closure in 1941.
The mine used over 500 workers and could produce up to 4,000 tons per year during the historic maximum.
Today the basement fusion ovens have been renovated as art workshops, projection room, library and training spaces: lithography, calcography, silkscreening, ceramic, herbalist etc.
Within it was born the Project Museum Graphia - International Printing Museum, with numerous historical print presses and artistic printing work.
Annually around 18,000 students taking part in the schools participate in the workshops and activities offered.
In the green hills of the Marche region, The Court of Miniera is the ideal destination for those looking for a special holiday full of relaxation, good kitchen and contact with nature.
The aim was to turn the mine not into a traditional hotel, but into a true "learning place", surrounded by art and culture.
