INFORMATION ABOUT NOVOLI Novoli is a small village in the province of Lecce, which boasts just under 8 thousand inhabitants. The village was originally built around three very ancient churches, San Salvatore, San Giovanni and Sanata Maria Madre di Dio. All thanks to the work of the inhabitants of Porziano, a nearby farmhouse. The oldest evidence regarding the presence of man in the area are represented by the Cardamone caves. In fact, fossil bones dating back to the Upper Pleistocene have been found. There is also no shortage of menhirs from the Bronze Age. From an archaeological point of view, two tombs from the 6th century BC date back to the Magna Graecia period, with traces of the Byzantine era in the remains of a fresco in the church of the Immaculate Conception.
