The beach can be narrow or more spacious, depending on the storm surges, and the seabed is characterized by the presence of shallows. “Lo Spiaggione," whose name speaks for itself, is a very wide, spacious beach and distancing is guaranteed here. A long walk on the shore will take you to admire the great Tower from below.

The promontory on which the Tower of San Giovanni stands, positioned 50 meters above sea level, was built during the period of Spanish domination to which Sardinia had to submit between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century. In some periods of the year, it can be visited. From up there, you can enjoy an excellent view over the entire Gulf of Oristano and on the other side, you can admire the immensity of the Sardinia Sea, imagining that a few hundred kilometres away you can meet the coasts of the Spanish island of Mallorca. Also from above, it is possible to notice the large structure of the Phoenician-Punic city of Tharros, the archaeological area that can be accessed throughout the year. It is here that we find other beaches; an isthmus separates the open sea from the calmer sea of ​​the Gulf.
