UNITS OF PROPERTIES
Mixed forest land about 110 hectares (1.097.782 sqm)
Residential building about 350 square meters on two floors, Stable about 110 square meters on two floors
Land:
The average height on the sea level of the property is about 300 m.
The land in question is adjoining to each other by creating a single 110 hectare land.
The property has direct access from the provincial road SP58 (Aggius - Viddalba) through a gate at km 3 from the Aggius-Trinità crossroads, the same inside and equipped with dirt roads that can be reached by car. From the entrance you can easily reach the upper part of the land where the buildings stand up, placed in domination of the entire land.
The orography of the land is mostly hilly with medium slopes and is crossed by a strong stream for about 9 months the year called "Rio Tirriaga", the latter name of
the whole area, precisely Stazzo Tirriaga. The area is full of spring water, upstream from the buildings there is a surface well active all year round and an open sky source with natural collection in close proximity.
The entire property consists mainly of a mixed forest, with alternates of cork oaks, oaks, oaks, oaks, arbezzolo, myrtle as well as a rich and diffuse Mediterranean scrub.
THE BUILDINGS:
As described above, the property has two separate buildings. The major building - Lo Stazzo - with residential function, and the building not far from the stable with stable-stable function.
The stairwell
The main building nearly collects all the characteristics registered by the experts that have written on these ancient Gallura residential settlements.
With typical rectangular plan the "Stazzo Tirriaga" was born as a house of two families of close connection. From the front façade, essentially symmetrical, it appears the old central division between the right and left parts, the latter very probably the oldest. No certain date of the first settlement was found, but old tales handed down verbally through the generations that still own the property, can make the early 1800s presume as a period of construction.
The central double-floor part "a Palazzu or Palazzeddu" welcomes on the ground floor two large living areas, connected by a small entrance area that connects, in addition to the two areas mentioned above, the stone staircase to access the first floor. The latter consists of three rooms that are separately accessible by a corridor: a very large master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms. Through one of the two smaller bedrooms you can access the attic through a wooden staircase.
The building also has, as was tradition, a series of rooms built in perfect continuity with the main living body. These additions kept a function strictly necessary for the lives of the families who lived there, but there was not always a connection from the inside of the residential area. From the main façade we can easily read the single addition built on the right side and the double construction with evident difference of height on the left side. You need to visit the back of the right part of the building, however, to find another part of the building that stands perpendicularly to the extended plan: "Lu Pinneti". This room strictly to a sloping one, leaning against the house, has a private entrance and is equipped with a large wood-burning oven also built as another external addition.
At the extreme left of the residential building, leaning against the latter, stands as mentioned, another small independent structure with access through a small door on the main façade. Probably another warehouse, such as "lininglu" on the opposite side, at the service of the residential family unit on that side of the staace. Also inside, it is equipped with a wood-burning oven with an external leaning structure.
The stable / stable
Located to the north of the residential building about 30 meters away, the stable has a rectangular plan (12 x 6 m) with a double asymmetric floor. On the left side, and exactly half the surface of the plant (6 x 6 m), there is precisely an upper floor internally divided by a wooden floor. The environment on the first floor, accessible by a front door, was probably used as a hay warehouse. An austere building and with net geometries, it lends itself very well to a change of intended use to be redeveloped also as a dwelling.
The masonry of both structures has no signs of collapse or particular degradation that compromise the stability of the same. The roofs have been completely rebuilt: load-bearing floors and roof covering. The latter, in the residential building, was built with original Sardinian couples from the early century for the exposed part and new couples for all channels.
CURIOUSITY
The image of the Tirriaga Station was chosen for an important regional conference on the landscape organized by the Sardinian region in collaboration with the Ministry for Heritage and Cultural Activities.
In the interior of the Stazzo Tirriaga was shot a short film of "Il mute di Gallura", history taken from the famous novel of Enrico Costa, the direction of Mario Giua Marassi.
CONCLUSIONS
The Stazzo Tirriaga, understood as a whole of buildings, land and all the improvements made for the last two centuries (wells, fountains, streets, campsites etc) is a true example of an ancient Gallura farm. Solitary but well connected to the strategic roads, with old intact stone buildings that dominate the entire property. Well suited to new receptive or purely residential functions for those still looking for Gallura authenticity ..
