Palazzo Acreide: its origins date back to 664 BC, when the Greek colony of Akrai was founded by the Siracusans on the Acremonte hill, between the valleys of the Anapo and Tellaro rivers.
Over the centuries the city was dominated by several populations, including Romans, Byzantine, Arabs and Normans. Today there are several evidence of the passage of these populations on the Acremante hill, where the ancient city stood. In this archaeological area there is the Greek Theater of Akrai dating back to the 2nd century BC, and immediately next to the Temple of Aphrodite. There are also the so-called "Santoni", a complex of statues that form a sanctuary dedicated to the worship of the goddess Cibele.
