Neogotic Castle in the Chianti area, with swimming pool and olive grove

The Castle of Montebenichi dates back to the 12th century. It was originally the central nucleus of the original fortress, for the centuries transformed into a village after losing its defensive function. The structure owes its current forms to the restoration started in 1901 by the painter scrub Salvadore Malesci; a later restoration and the intended use as a luxury accommodation facility were carried out in 1997 by the current owner.
Montebenichi is a small village, located on a Chianti hill at 525 m. above sea level, halfway between Siena and Arezzo.
Architecture and landscape
Perfect example of Neogotic or Neo-Eval architecture, an artistic current that was born in Europe in the 18th century, which developed in the European countries in the nineteenth century and in the first decades of the twentieth century, as is witnessed by this renovation. The interior has been completely renovated and furnished with works of art in the last restoration, following this spirit.
The landscape is the classic Tuscan rural landscape, that of the Chianti area, full of woods, olive groves, vineyards and prestigious villas.
Procofev and "jzenštejn" to celebrate the Tuscan Neogetic
We wanted to insert SergeJ Procofev "The Battle of ice", from the work Alexander Nevsky of 1938, scores composed of the homonymous movie of the Soviet director "jzenštejn," to celebrate this architecture, which is without doubt an icon of the Neogotic Italian for also inserted in the Chianti area. To celebrate the time and the connection to the movie, we used, artistic, if so on can say, of the white and black, all in the hope of being able to transmit the emotion we tried by visiting "the Castle".
Description of the property
The Castle overlooks the square in the center of Montebenichi, which was the arms square of the ancient fortress.
At the entrance an atrium with the office on the left and the entrance to a back room. On the right there is access to a living room which leads to the dining room and the kitchen. From the kitchen you can also reach the large back room where many services are located (penser, laundry, ironing, linen and crockery wardrobes, etc.) From here a staircase leads to the cellar. This room has a door that opens into the back façade.
The kitchen overlooks a courtyard that allows you to reach a garage and a warehouse with exit into the square.
From the entrance hall, a staircase leads to the first floor to an atrium that overlooks the square, the Chianti hills and a small garden. In the atrium there are doors for the red room, the old library, the green room and the new library: rooms that accommodate the collections (paintings, drawings, furniture, majolica, sculptures) of the owner. Two stairs lead to six bedrooms (five on the second floor and one on the first floor) all with bathroom. From the second floor a wooden staircase reaches the terrace with 360 ° views of the Chianti, Siena, Crete, Val d'Orcia up.
In the Castle there are also three small apartments (each of about 45 square meters) with independent entrances. Another apartment is in the square.
With a few steps you reach a large garden with splendid views of the Valdambra, where there is a swimming pool; rooms annexed to this, a gym and a parking space.
On the slope of the hill there is a olive grove with about 160 olive trees. The extension of the land is about 2 hectares.
