Main Features

Description

LOCATION
Castello Guelfo built in 1427 is located on a hill in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. A few kilometers from Florence and near the Chianti area, the property can be reached by crossing the verdant hills interspersed along the road with small villages. The sea can be reached in less than an hour by car and cities rich in history and culture such as Florence and Perugia are easily reachable, passing through panoramic roads that cross the hills of Tuscany or Umbria.

GARDEN AND OUTDOOR SPACE
The Castello Guelfo lot is 22 hectares, it has a tennis court, a wood and the possibility of grafting a vineyard. The Castle is reached by taking the road that climbs up to the top of the hill and the entrance to the Castle has a great scenic impact. Inside the park, the rich and varied vegetation offers paths framed by rows of cypresses or tall trees. The swimming pool is inserted to the side of the Castle, flanked by the large terrace accessible both from inside and outside by means of ancient stone steps. A more recent structure, placed flush with the property, in glass and wrought iron could find a happy destination in a lemon house or in a winter garden.

INTERIOR LAYOUT
Castello Guelfo has a basement and three levels above ground.
Basement floor: here once there were dungeons now converted to a technical room for the many systems that feed the imposing structure. The vaults are barrel vaulted and this space, due to the construction and micro-climatic characteristics, could find a perfect new destination in a barrique cellar.
Ground floor: large entrance hall, small room that opens on the left, while on the right a door leads to the large kitchen; from here, a door leads to four bedrooms with two bathrooms serving them. There is a staircase, once belonging to the servants, which could become a service staircase, facilitating the conversion of the property into an accommodation facility. From here, you can go down to the basement floor but also while remaining level, you can enter a space built and designed to house the stables, today a shelter for agricultural vehicles or cars.
First floor: arriving at the balcony, on the left, we have a toilet area with two bathrooms and two double bedrooms. An imposing door gives access to the rooms on this floor, known as the noble floor. We find two wide-ranging halls, with frescoed ceilings and walls, overlooking the terrace which allows access to the garden and swimming pool, served by another toilet with three bathrooms and two rooms now used as a shelter for outdoor accessories. Returning from the terrace, we then come across the professional kitchen, a large connecting room that leads back to the living room, a sitting room and a bedroom with en suite bathroom.
A stone staircase from the end of the 14th century and an elevator added after the last restoration serve the two floors of the building.
Second floor: entrance onto an important atrium, which serves as a connection to the twelve bedrooms with en suite bathroom.
Roof Floor: access to the roof, practicable by means of a perimeter walkway.

FINISHES
The property, handled several times over time, has kept the frescoed vaults in the reception rooms. The fixtures are made of wood, the roof has exposed beams with terracotta tiles. The floors and walls of the kitchens and bathrooms now in ceramic could be replaced with local materials typical of the Tuscan building tradition: terracotta from Impruneta, pietra serena, wood and marble. The partly plastered facade, during the first restoration which took place around 1960, still has the underlying masonry in some sections, with exposed stones that could be recovered, adding that flavor of grandeur and solidity typical of castles built in the late period medieval.
