The building stands on the remains of a 9th-century Longobard watchtower of which the original exposed stones have been maintained. 

The renovation and expansion were carried out between 2004 and 2010 with high quality materials: chestnut beams, handmade terracotta floors, a new roof, double-glazed windows, ultra-modern electro-hydraulic systems, independent heating with underground LPG tank, partial air conditioning. 
The buildings, both the original ones and those that have been added, have been subjected to anti-seismic reinforcement and thermal insulation.
