THE VILLAGE

Poggio is a charming mountain village located 330 meters above sea level on the Island of Elba, in the municipality of Marciana. Points of interest in and around Poggio

Church of San Niccoló: dating back to the 12th century, it has a Greek cross structure and also served as a fortification, as evidenced by the lateral bastions. Inside are works of art from the 18th and 19th centuries, including an organ from 1854.
Accademia del Bello: museum dedicated to figurative arts and scenography, hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events. It preserves a copy of the volume Les cinq codes donated by Napoleon Bonaparte to the community of Poggio in 1814.
