La Barca is a small hamlet three kilometers from Gallicano. It stands on the southern bank of the Serchio river, where during the Middle ages a ferry has shuttled from there to the orher side of the river hence the name La Barca. 
In the old part of the hamlet there are the ruins of the old city walls with two access gates: the north gate, perfectly intact, and the south gate, now disappeared, of which the ruins can be found. Adjacent to the north gate is the Oratorio della Barca dedicated to Saints Lucia and Rocco. The village preserves the ancient paved road that leads to Fiattone, which passes through the village "La Taverna", once a meeting point for bandits.
