IA03805 - A DREAM COME TRUE. This is what you can accomplish by purchasing this important Venetian Gothic Villa on the hills of Lucca built in the 12th century. At the time it was an important residence of the Malpigli family known for its valuable trade with the Republic of Venice who wanted to build it, unique in the area, as a model of a Venetian palace. The three-storey villa with a surface of approximately 850 m2 is characterized by the original mullioned windows still intact, by the terraces and by a beautiful access road made of centuries-old boxwood. For centuries it underwent expansion and transformation interventions, different uses, until it was completely abandoned which destined it to a sad end.
Fortunately, about 20 years ago, a man of wide culture felt in love with it and was able to see in what was now an abandoned ruin, the history and splendor that had permeated it.
He decided to make it his residence and started recovery works that brought that ruin back to its former glory.
Since then important and long works, characterized not by renovating the old by making it new, but by researching every single remaining detail with archaeological attention, have brought the property to its current conditions: perfectly renovated in its structures, perfectly legible for its use and for its completion.
The craftsmen employed, as if out of an ancient book, dedicated themselves for years to the reconstruction, followed by attentive professionals and historians.
All done with painstaking expertise, with an obsessive and very expensive search for the previous state in such a way that at first glance, one cannot notice the important consolidation and structural recovery works unless with the guidance of the owner. To this date the structure is ready for finishing. A path that is still demanding both in terms of resources and study.
At this point we must proceed with the completion work which, given the historical importance of the property, is partly financed by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage but the owner, pursuing his dream, has not noticed the passage of time which today he advises him to leave the witness to someone else.
For this reason it was decided to sell the property. Not an easy but obligatory decision to find someone who wants to finish the path undertaken by a dreamer in love with beauty.
