The village of Rocca Sigillina is located in the Caprio valley, where the stream receives the waters of the Cuccarello. It clings to the ridge of the spur that descends steeply from the Apennines. One seems to be able to touch the Marmagna, the Braiola, and the Aquila, looming over this once strategic village from which a wide panorama opens up to the Magra and beyond, to the hills between Tuscany and Liguria. Here, well before the year 1000, a massive watchtower was erected for observation and control along the and quot;Lombard road, and quot; one of the most important of the time, which rose from the valley floor up to the Cirone pass and from here reached the centers of the Po Valley. Today, this ancient road can still be traveled on foot or even by mountain bike, until reaching the meadows of Logarghena.
