In the vicinity of this small bridge and the Ponte Vecchio village in 1905 a group of 8 Stele Statues were found. Testimony of the ancient presence of man in these valleys.
The surprising discovery of the Stele Statues of the Pontevecchio Group is characterized by the discovery of 8 intact monuments and only one fragmentary (Pontevecchio IX).
They are certainly among the oldest of the Lunigiana group and were found and quot;in situ and quot;, that is, in the same place where they were originally located and in order of height. Four of the statues are asexual (there are no elements that distinguish their sex) while two are certainly male and three female.
