Between Tuscany and Liguria, in the heart of Lunigiana, a few kilometres from Sarzana and the motorway exit and close to the Gulf of Poets with its renowned seaside resorts, stands this completely renovated structure, currently used as an agritourism.
Originally it was an old water mill, completely made of stone, located in a suggestive valley with a stream surrounded by greenery, on the sides the characteristic Ligurian terraces on which numerous olive trees, lemons and typical Mediterranean products grow.
The ancient path of the Via Francigena passes right here, leading pilgrims from the countries of northern Europe to Rome. The stones of this ancient path, partly still visible, together with the stone bridge that leads to the land on the other side of the stream, always part of the property, are also from the Roman period. This bridge, also of Roman age, is called “Hannibal’s Bridge” because it is said that from there, he passed with his army on the descent towards Rome over 2,000 years ago.
