THE FARM
The farm is located in a lovely unspoilt valley nestled on the rolling hills surrounding the medieval village of San Miniato. The position is enviable as it can be easily reached by car from the 4 main cities of Tuscany: Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena.
The company covers 54 hectares and includes horticultural crops, two vineyards, an olive grove, arable land and coppice.
The farmhouse dates back to the 1700s. It was originally a podere, a parcel of land of a larger property.
Today it is a modern organic farm that produces large quantities of various vegetables, aromatic herbs and strawberries, and of course wine.
The farmi includes several working buildings and a small B&B.
We grow a range of different vegetables, mainly fennel, ears, cabbage, squid, tomatoes, potatoes, salads, asparagus, artichokes, onions and garlic, in a carefully planned rotation to ensure the land is not over-exploited. We have just started growing herbs for which there is a high demand. In spring and summer we grow strawberries. They do very well here and we have become justifiably famous in the area. Most of our fruit and veg goes to organic stores but we deliver weekly boxes direct to households.
Our 2.5 hectares of vineyards, planted with san giovese, merlot and cabernet, produce up to 10,000 bottles.
THE VINEYARD
The vineyards are planted with 1.2 ha of San Giovese, 0.7 of Merlot and 0.6 of Cabernet. We produce between 5,000 and 10,000 bottles of wine every year. Rosso Biologico, or Tuscan red, is a blend of three grapes. It changes from year to year depending on the vintage. It enjoys a good reputation in the region. The Organic Red is entirely produced internally. From harvesting to fermentation, refinement and bottling.
THE FARMHOUSE
We have completely rebuilt the agriturismo but wanted to preserve the atmosphere and style of an old Tuscan farmhouse. The result is a practical 21st century home in a charming 17th century exterior. We kept the old scaffolding facade and gutted the interior from the foundations to the roof. We have built 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, one on each floor, a sumptuous open plan kitchen which leads to the dining area with a fantastic fireplace.
The ground floor opens onto a huge terrace under which we have created a garage for two cars, a large laundry area and storage and meeting areas. There is also a wood-burning oven for bread and pizza which is used a lot. The house is heated with low temperature underfloor heating and equipped with central air conditioning with retractable fan coil units and ventilated roof. The floors are in parquet or Tuscan terracotta. The bathrooms and kitchen are embellished with hand-painted tiles and there is fiber optic internet connection everywhere.
THE BARN
Beh Barn is another classic red brick farm building. It is currently used as a deposit. However, it could be converted into a restaurant, manufacturing plant or even apartments.
THE RED HOUSE
The red house is made up of the farmer's shop flanked by a small office and a warehouse for products and wines. The machine shop and wood chip boiler are located at the rear of the house.
On the west side there is a dressing room for the workers, the cellar and a beautiful veranda. On the front lawn, under a centuries-old pine tree, there are wooden tables for summer parties and a children's playground.
THE FIRST FLOOR
The first floor has been divided into 3 apartments: 4 bedroom apartment, 2 bedroom apartments and 1 bedroom apartment
THE SHED
The shed is the main processing area. The height can be increased to double the size and converted into rooms or apartments B&B also restaurant or spa.
