The village of Chiusure is located on a hill 6.8 km south of Asciano. The small village is located in a privileged position and dominates the magnificent landscape of the Crete Senesi, characterized by phenomena called "biancane" and "calanchi" that are formed by the erosion of clay soil by atmospheric agents. Certain the presence in these areas of the Etruscans and Romans, we have documents on Chiusure since 715, when the village was located around an ancient monastery dedicated to Sant'Arcangelo in Luco, now disappeared. Not far from Chiusure, there is the splendid Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, seat of the Olivetan Congregation, founded by Saint Bernardo Tolomei in 1319. Other points of interest in the immediate vicinity are Asciano, S. Giovanni D'Asso, a small town famous for its truffles, Pienza and the Val D'Orcia, Montepulciano and Siena only 40 km away. The exit of the freeway is the A1 Val Di Chiana at 50 Km.
