About historic orvieto and why its a great place to live:

Orvieto is thought to be one of the oldest towns in Italy. Handily for the visitor it is the perfect size for exploring on foot and was Italy’s first ‘Slow’ city in that it banned most traffic from its centre and its winding medieval streets.
There are many things to see and do, not least the Duomo – considered by many the most beautiful cathedral in Italy; Orvieto Underground, with its many tunnels and caverns that exist underneath the city dug by the ancient Etruscans and the famous Saint Patrick’s well. 
Food lovers will be spoilt by the many restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias and gelateria.

Local car hire is reasonably priced and within a short driving distance are some of the most idyllic villages and pastoral landscapes in Umbria.

Nearby are the towns of Bolsena and its lake (22km), regarded as the cleanest volcanic lake in Europe; picturesque Cività di Bagnoregio (21kms), Todi (37kms) and the many pretty, unspoilt villages and small towns, often with castles, which are dotted around the hills near Orvieto.

The coast and extensive beaches of both Lazio (Montalto) and Tuscany (Monte Argentario) can be reached in 1hr 20mins and 1hr 20mins respectively. 

Golf:
Acquapendente Golf Club is a 9-hole course approximately 40kms from Orvieto, whilst an 18-hole, par 72 course exists close to the town of Saturnia at Hotel Terme di Saturnia, Spa & Golf Resort, some 75kms to the West.  

Airports:
International airports serving the area are Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino, equidistant at approximately 120kms and a 1hr 30mins travelling time.  Perugia airport, which receives direct Ryanair flights from Stansted ( UK ) is approximately 80kms with a 1hr 20min travelling time.
