Casale Colle Pizzuto is a lovingly restored traditional stone casale is set In a beautiful rural location, while being only a minute or two from an excellent restaurant and a couple of minutes drive from the historic town of Alvito.  Quiet but not isolated, it enjoys sweeping views across the gently rolling countryside

Two levels of wide terracing enclosed by stone walls have been created in front of the house - the upper one being a very large patio area forming an enchanting space for alfresco dining.   Then wide gentle steps lead down to another walled terrace suitable as a formal garden area, or a play area for children or pets, or for a stunning infinity-design swimming pool (subject to the normal consents). Beyond this elegant terrace area, the land and olive groves stretch away.

The ground floor of the main house has a generous entrance hall, with to the left an elegant sitting room featuring a log fireplace  and to the right a spacious attractive eat-in kitchen with traditional rustic tiling. The kitchen benefits from double doors opening on to the terrace to facilitate al fresco dining.  There is also a guest w.c. on this level.

The stairs, fashioned in wood and wrought iron, lead up to the middle floor, where there are two large bedrooms and a lovely attractively-tiled modern bathroom. The staircase then continues to the top floor, which features  charming sloped wood ceilings throughout, has a further two generous bedrooms and another very large bathroom. The central area between the two bedrooms is configured so that it can be a small extra sitting area for guests or alternatively a study. 

All rooms have beautiful views over the panoramic vista stretching away over the peaceful rolling hills

There is an unrestored stone dependance which could perhaps in the future become a garage, or part of a BBQ area or a hobby/relax zone.

The nearest town of Alvito is a delightful small town with many historic buildings. Its shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and services are all within a five minutes drive from Casale Colle Pizzuto.  The ancient hilltop town of Atina, surrounded by vineyards and an important part of Lazio's wine industry, is only eight minutes drive . Casale Colle Pizzuto has excellent road access to the superstrada / autostrada network, and both Rome and Rome's airports are only around 90 minutes drive away.

ALVITO AND THE CIOCIARIA 

Alvito is one of the major medieval hilltop towns in the area of Italy called the Ciociaria, the name given to the fertile land that lies south of Rome but north of Naples, situated inland in the hills in the heart of Italy. 

The Ciociaria region is within easy reach of both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day's shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter drive brings you to the charming beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east, and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await with horse trekking in the magnificent beech forests, and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the heat of the summer. And at the other extreme of temperature, although Alvito itself is temperate, less than an hour's drive brings you to the winter ski slopes. 

Often overlooked, both by tourists and by those foreigners in search of an Italian home, in favour of the more publicised regions of Tuscany and Umbria, the Ciociaria remains largely an unspoilt gem with beautiful scenery and medieval hilltop towns. A home or second home in the Ciociaria, in the hilltop towns of Alvito, Arpino, Veroli, Alatri or in the rolling countryside that surrounds them, will afford you a setting where over two thousand years of history combine with an idyllic rural Italian lifestyle, where you can still discover the 'real' Italy and take time out from the busy crowds of the larger tourist cities, while being less than ninety minutes journey from central Rome or either of Rome's two airports.
