Casa Lolli is an attractive townhouse with excellent views, outside space and a ground floor area with a commercial permit, suitable for a shop, art gallery etc. In the heart of the historic centre of Piglio, it is right by the main church, and only a few steps from the piazza (with two excellent restaurants) and the main Corso, with further restaurants, shops, cafes, bars etc. 

There are views in both directions: out over the valley, towards the twin towers of the Santa Maria Assunta church, and over the roofs of the old town towards the hills.

The ground floor has the commercial unit, with two large rooms and a bathroom, and its own separate street door (as well as internal access to the rest of the house).

The first floor of the main house has two large rooms, one running the width of the house. This has currently been divided into two by a partition wall, which could easily be removed. There is also a small bathroom on this level.

The upper floor has four further rooms, as well as the main bathroom. There is plumbing and wiring for a kitchen on both floors, allowing for a great flexibility of layout. 

A generous balcony runs the width of the house at the back, with views across the valley.

Stairs lead up to an attic room with access to the roof terrace, which looks out over the old town to the hills beyond, and also at the lovely church.

There is also a large 'cantina' (above ground cellar) for storage.


PIGLIO AND THE CIOCIARIA

Piglio is a charming town, which (rather unusually) combines generally good street access with traditional cobbled alleyways. The home of Cesanese del Piglio DOC wine, it has an excellent yearly wine festival, and the town itself has a good selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.

Piglio is part of the the Ciociaria.  The Ciociaria region of Italy  is within easy reach of both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day's shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter drive brings you to the charming beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east, and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await with horse trekking in the magnificent beech forests, and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the heat of the summer.

Often overlooked, both by tourists and by those foreigners in search of an Italian home, in favour of the more publicized regions of Tuscany and Umbria, the Ciociaria remains largely an unspoilt gem with beautiful scenery and medieval hilltop towns. A home or second home in the Ciociaria, in the hilltop towns of Piglio, Anagni, Arpino, Veroli or in the rolling countryside that surrounds them, will afford you a setting where over two thousand years of history combine with an idyllic rural Italian lifestyle, where you can still discover the 'real' Italy and take time out from the busy crowds of the larger tourist cities, while being less than ninety minutes journey from central Rome or either of Rome's two airports.
